Reika Ootori Megumi Onodera Reika and Megumi are the operators at Hypnos, the system that monitors all digital activity on the network. Of course, there must have been many other members of Hypnos not named or focussed on in the series. At first, Megumi did not have a name. When Mr. Atsushi Maekawa wrote a scene that gave a little more personality to the second operator, he named her Megumi. Ms. Fujiko Miyashita portrayed Megumi as a normal young woman, and I found this very entertaining. I enjoyed writing Megumi's reaction to Calumon when he wanders into Hypnos. In Episode 24 ("The Journey Begins"), I revealed that Reika and Yamaki had a personal relationship outside of work. The staff members who read my script were astonished, but I felt as though their their true relationship was hinted at throughout their past interactions. I believe that Reika is the one who saved Yamaki when he was on the edge of self-destruction. Reika was played by Ai Nagano, who also played Suzie (Shao-chung). Although the two roles were very different, she brought each character to life in her own way.
