For Kazu and Kenta's partner digimon, I wanted to choose digimon that would be well-known by the child audience.

During story development meetings with the other writers, we would lay out many Digimon Encyclopedias to decide which Digimon would appear. I always enjoyed the illustrations of "Protect Grenade", in which little grenades with whistles leap out of Guardromon's arms, and so I wanted to have this digimon in the third season. When we needed to find Kazu a partner, this character immediately rose to mind.

Mr. Kiyoyuki Yanada, who played Guardromon in the Japanese version, often made the recording studio laugh with his ad-libbed lines. I was so entertained that I often requested the director to keep the ad-libs in the final recording as well.
